Harmonized Sales Tax for Ontario and British Columbia – Questions and Answers on General Transitional Rules for Personal Property and Services

The 2009 Ontario Budget proposed a harmonized sales tax (HST), which would come into effect on July 1, 2010. In addition, on July 23, 2009, the British Columbia (B.C.) Ministry of Finance issued a News Release proposing an HST which would also come into effect on July 1, 2010. The HST in Ontario and B.C. will be administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Synergy FSJ, is a Junior Division of the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce, held their first monthly 'mingler' in October and had an amazing turnout. Over 40 people turned out to meet and expand their business networks at the event. The 'mingler' was held at Fogg N Sudds and professionals from finances, real estate, oil & gas and many other industries came out to support this new event.

Pilot project helps Fort St. John & Area employers address skills shortages

VANCOUVER, BC.  --While all the indicators are telling us our economy is struggling, there are signs the turnaround may not be far off.  And when that happens, we need to deal with the labour shortages still facing many of British Columbia's key industries, including trades, construction and hospitality.

An aging population and declining birthrates are just some of the reasons why those shortages haven't gone away, despite the current economic slowdown.

Welcome to the new website for the Fort St. John & Distict Chamber of Commerce - The new website features a complete and up-to date membership directory, easy to find information about our community and information about Chamber Membership, and all of the latest news and information about the Chamber.

The new website has been developed for the Chamber by Motion Media.

The 2009 Fort St. John & Area Community Guide is in production, and will be all over local newsstands in March.
