Chamber Conducts Survey

February 5th, 2010

The Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce would like to thank you for your input.
Recently we asked you to fill out a survey and we were impressed with the response.
46.5 percent of you identified representing business on all government levels, offering of seminars and other education and providing networking opportunities as the top programs most important to you. “We are listening”, says Chamber President Russ Beerling. The Chamber Board of Directors met Tuesday at their regularly scheduled board meeting and discussed the results of the survey.”We are already providing networking opportunities with our monthly luncheons with guest speakers relevant to today issues”, continues Beerling. We are also bringing back an old favorite, the After Hours Business Mixers.

Annually the Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce forms a committee of directors to review the BC Chamber of Commerce policy and positions manual.  In 2009, your Chamber of Commerce was successful in having a policy promoting literacy adopted at the BC Chamber AGM. This year the committee has been discussing possible policy resolutions to be submitted to the BC Chamber at their annual general meeting in May.  Many of the policies submitted by Chambers have been used to lobby government at the Provincial level and on to the Federal level on your behalf.

Another 51 percent of you identified Marketing, Enhancing employee performance and developing leadership skills as the top workshops you are interested in attending.  Beerling says, “The Fort St John Chamber Board will be looking into bringing these workshops to Fort St John in the very near future”.

The Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business for the Fort St John & Area.

Thank you for helping us determine what is important to you. Your Chamber of Commerce is working on policies; workshops and networking opportunities that will help you succeed in tougher times and assist you in having a profitable and prosperous year.
