Chamber successful in moving 'Leveling the Playing Field' policy to next level

News Release
Chamber Successful moving policy to next level

April 29th, 2010

The Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce would like to thank their policy committee for all the hard work involved in moving our Leveling the Playing Field policy to the next level.
Annually the Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce forms a committee of directors to review the BC Chamber of Commerce policy and positions manual.  In 2009, your Chamber of Commerce was successful in having a policy promoting literacy adopted at the BC Chamber AGM and this year the committee has been successful in moving another policy resolution to the next level. Our ‘Leveling the Playing Field for Oil and Gas Service Companies’ will be reviewed by the BC Chamber members and voted on at their Annual General Meeting in May.
The first stage that policies must pass is the BC Chamber Policy Review Committee. The review committee can on their discretion support or not support submitted resolutions. We are happy to announce that the Policy Review Committee has shown their support for our policy.
Many of the policies submitted by Chambers have been used to lobby government at all levels. Our resolution, if successful will be reviewed by the Provincial and Federal Government on your behalf.

“The Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business for the Fort St John & Area and it is with a voice of approximately 400 members that we can collectively lobby the issues of our area”, says Chamber President Russ Beerling. “Thank you for letting us know what is important to you, so we can act on it.”
