Fort Saint John
The Healthcare Traveling Roadshow was conceived in 2009 to help address rural healthcare workforce shortages by bringing healthcare professional students to visit rural communities and talk to youth about healthcare careers. Since its inception, the Roadshow has visited some 3000 students across 12 communities in BC from Clearwater to Fort Nelson to Kitimat.
This year, the Roadshow will be visiting another 1000 or so high school youth in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge. In addition to high school presentations, the Roadshow provides an opportunity for an inter-professional group of healthcare students to travel and work together, while envisioning some of the practice opportunities in communities outside of Prince George or other major centres. Dr Sean Maurice of UNBC is the lead on the Healthcare Traveling Roadshow and will talk about the growth and development of this initiative. We will have 18 health care students in attendance. Please join us and help them feel welcome in our community!
NEAT & NPSCU have joined for the 3rd annual “Community Can”. Karen from NEAT will explain how you can become involved as part of a team to spend an afternoon canning & donate jars to the local food bank.
We’re pleased to announce that our June 9th luncheon is being sponsored by the Fort St. John Co-operative Association.
