The Nominating Committee is currently putting together a full slate for each open position. The membership has until Monday November 12th, 2010 to submit nominations to the Chamber office. In addition to this process, the membership is welcome to submit “nominations from the floor” at the nominations luncheon Tuesday November 16th, 2010.
December 7th is the Elections luncheon if an election is necessary. Regardless of the size of your business, if you are a member in good standing with the Fort St. John & District Chamber of Commerce; you are eligible to vote.
Board of Directors Job Description
1) Eligibility for Election – You must be a member in good standing; a business owner or senior representative of a business in the Fort St. John & District; have had volunteer experience; and shall have been members in good standing with the Fort St. John & District Chamber of Commerce.
2) Responsibilities of the Board – Together with other members of the Board, you are responsible for all activities of the Chamber. Board members are solely responsible for determining the Chamber’s policy. The Board is responsible to ensure the financial accountability of the organization, to review the accountability of the board’s sole employee, the president, to plan for the Chamber’s short and long term goals, and to ensure that the Chamber’s programs and services meet the needs of the membership.
3) Minimum Job Requirements – A demonstrated interest in the Chambers goals; a willingness to expand knowledge of board responsibilities; a willingness to represent the Chamber in the community; and at a minimum you will spend between six and ten hours per month on Chamber business.
