Thank you for being a valued part of the Fort St John & District Chamber of Commerce.
This year, 2019, promises to be one of change at the Chamber as we welcome a new Executive Director – Cheryl Montgomery. Through these changes we look to grow our advocacy voice for the region while increasing the networking value for our members. This direction is tied to implementing a new Strategic Plan, putting emphasis on providing relevant and improved communication and opportunities to our membership.
The Chamber remains committed to providing great networking and information sharing through our monthly ‘Speaker Luncheons’ and ‘Business After 5’. ‘Synergy’, a unique Chamber initiative, provides engagement through a variety of collaborative sessions presented by local industry but specific to your business needs. This year we will provide a new service for networking and education to small business through monthly Lunch and Learn -mini-seminars which will provide information for everything from Social Media Awareness to Conflict Resolution, so watch for those upcoming. We continue to look at options to grow our networking opportunities which provide greater value for our members, business and community and this year we will look at expanding those opporunties through some f.
There is great optimism with the LNG Canada’s positive Final Investment Decision (FID) announcement in October and the economic impacts it will have in the region. To follow up on the announcement, we kicked off 2019 by teaming up with TC Energy (formerly TransCanada) to host an economic summit providing our members an opportunity to meet with prime contractors involved in building the Coastal Gas Link Pipeline. Many of you attended the forum and met with the hiring teams. We feel, providing these types of events and partnerships will help keep work local plus provide value to our membership.
The Chamber works on building its relationships with local municipalities, the regional district, the province and other chambers by advocating and representing the issues that matter most to our members in the north – both short and long term.
We want to provide a strong voice for our members. We need to hear your concerns, thoughts, ideas and feedback. We are open to all communication with members and non-members so we invited to contact us to discuss becoming a stronger organization.
On behalf of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and staff, please accept our thanks for your continued support of our efforts.
Christopher Flury, President
